Plant Technical Advisor
Location Aus - All, INDO - Sangatta Coal Mine
About the role
Based at Thiess’s Sangatta Project, in East Kalimantan Indonesia, as the Plant Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for the implementation of the cost management strategy for plant activities which is to align with the strategy of the Indonesian Plant Development.
In this role, you will:
Assist Planning in the development and implementation of an integrated planning process for major plant activities
Ensure plant operational activities are completed in a safe, timely, efficient, environmentally aware and cost conscious manner
Ensure there is effective utilisation of plant personnel and resources to achieve optimum performance in all facets
Manage the relevant mobile plant assets to ensure 90% availability by proactive and continuous improvements to the asset base
Lead, organise and provide direction for employees to ensure required performance is achieved in people performance, HSE&Q outcomes and the business results
Liaise with OEM’s, dealers and suppliers to purchase parts and to optimise plant operational and cost performance
About you
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
Trade Qualification or maintenance/engineering qualification
More than 5 years’ trade experience in mining/heavy equipment
Demonstrated knowledge of the heavy plant business
Strong experience in coaching, menoring and staff management
Experience in project implementation
Strong computer literacy with the abilty to create and use advanced spreadsheet as well as database management applications
EOI - Engineer Mine Planning

Location INDO - Balikpapan Support Office, Indonesia - East Kalimantan
About the role
The Engineer Mine Planning will be responsible to to provide mine planning, engineering services and technical support for tender preparation and existing Thiess operations. Reporting to the Manager Mine Planning and based on Balikpapan Support Facility on a 5/2 roster, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high quality solutions and results.
Some of your duties will include;
To evaluate reserves and recommend mining practices to maximize recourse recovery and minimize contamination.
Identify and communicate mine planning issues to Senior Mine Planning Engineer.
Provide and evaluate mining improvement project to site
Follow up from concept, design and construct through to implementation
Check site compliance with agreed mine plans when required
Manage and support produce scheduling/mine planning outputs for clients and for Thiess– focused around longer term mine planning.
Provide support to sites as required.
Coordinate with geology staff regarding client geological model and geotechnical requirements.
Analyse reserves remaining and recommend best mining practice (mining methods, loss and dilution)
About you
What skills and experience do you need?
Graduate from bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
“Pratama” Certification – Mine and Energy Department – preferred POP
A minimum of 2 years professional experience in large open cut mine and mine engineering.
Mining heavy industry experience is essential
Strong knowledge of Mining Principles, Mine design concepts, methods and technologies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for both oral and written in English/Bahasa.
An awareness of mine operation regulatory requirements.
Strong experience in Mine Planning design and scheduling

About the role
The Superintendent plant Operations will plan and execute operational maintenance and also implementation of healthy and safe environment for everyone at work. Reporting to the Plant Manager and based on Melak Coal Mine Project on a 4/2 roster, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high quality solutions and results.
Some of your duties will include:
To ensure that the maintenance department goals are achieved, by following the procedures set out in the Thiess Governance System (TGS)
Communication and reporting. Ensure maximum communication levels are maintained between workshop and operations personnel regarding breakdowns safety issues, and prioritizing of equipment repairs.
Ensure that all area supervisors accurately complete daily breakdown reports, supervisors shift report, PCR’s for submission the planning and administration before 8am every day. Ensure accurate breakdown hours information is provided
Analysis of component condition and recommendation of parts required. Ensure correct procedures used when troubleshooting breakdowns and failures
Review operator’s checklist summary and mechanical inspection sheets, ensure submission to planning department with repair and parts recommendation. Ensure supervisors and mechanic raise recommended parts lists accurately to address all known work, breakdowns, and planned maintenance
Planning and co-ordination of shut down work in cooperation with planning department. Ensure all repairs are carried out in a cost effective and timely manner
Investigation and reporting of all accident damage to all equipment in the field and associated area, this includes operator abuse
Ensure a safe working environment for all employee by ensure all activities are carry out according to the work procedures in the TGS and the project management plan
Ensure that there is no impact on the environment from the activities that are carried out to operate and repair equipment by ensuring that the procedures in the TGS and Site Management plan are followed
Ensure that all maintenance tasks are carried out in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
About you
What skills and experience do you need?
Mechanical Engineer or Ex Apprentice
Minimum 10 years industry mining maintenance experience.
People handling skill diagnostic skills in all aspects of mechanical repairs.
Mechanic experience on Thiess equipment e.g. Cat, Komatsu, Hitachi and Liebherr, Coal hauling and lifting equipment.
Knowledge of welding procedures
IT Literacy
